By using Fertile Fibre there is no need to use Peat ever again. Peat is a finite resource, and the importance of conserving the world’s peat moors is widely recognised by conservationists.

In looking for a way to avoid using this precious resource (yet still obtain outstanding growing results) we developed Fertile Fibre. This is a real, truly organic, alternative to peat. It’s basis is a high quality form of coir.

Fertile Fibre is fully certified by the Soil Association, the UK’s leading campaigning and certification organisation for organic food and farming.

Herbfarmacy has a small herb farm at Eardisley in the west of the county where Paul Richards started growing medicinal herbs 30 years ago. It is also where the Organic Skincare range started by Paul and wife Carol 7 years ago is made using extracts of the herbs grown there - the whole process - 'from seed to skin'. The farm has been organically certified by the Soil Association since 1985, and invites visitors to the farm annually - this year we have an open weekend on July 27-28th to celebrate 30 years of growing. Herbfarmacy also grow medicinal herbs for use by herbalists and other companies - notably the Echinacea tincture dispensed in many branches of Neal's Yard Remedies.

Hi, I'm Hannah, and plants and nature have always been a big part of my life. I have an HNC in Organic Horticulture from Pershore College, and have been a professional gardener for eight years. All the herbs are grown in a peat free compost sourced locally, and propagated by myself.

"Broomy Hill (hopefully soon to be) Enchanted Garden Nursery – It all stems from a love of plants……  Enplantment is filling the gaps left behind when the Ornamental Tree Nursery relocated to Lancashire.  Moving in December 2012 from Surrey, specifically to turn pipedreams into realities, Jim and Annette are committed to making an garden nursery where the emphasis is very much centred on green little fingers.  There are plenty of ideas waiting to germinate, including a raised bed rental scheme which has the name of Pucker Patches.  Plans are currently under way for a Enplantment based crazy golf course, more than a gentle wander up the garden path.  With the introduction of a juice/smoothie bar and a shoppe selling farm produce and all the items needed to make ones own Little Land of Enplantment it is hoped that the future once again looks rosy for this completely beautiful and magickal garden nursery.  As we purchased the nursery as a going concern we still have a good range of apple trees and some ornamental trees, the sale of which is enabling the changes to take place.”

With over 25 years experience of growing perennials we know what it takes to grow a good plant. The majority of the plants we sell are grown on the nursery, which means we can keep an eye on quality and, very importantly, check that our plants are true to name. We are proud to be British nursery growers who are headed by husband and wife owners and supported by a small, enthusiastic and knowledgeable team of full time and seasonal employees.

In addition to the large perennial selection we grow, we are National Collection Holders of both a Bearded Iris Collection (full status) and a Hybrid Herbaceous Peony Collection (provisional status).

Liz Knight runs Forage Fine Foods from her kitchen in Walterstone. She is passionate about the less obvious good that grows in our gardens and turns invasive weeds, garden flowers and gatherings from hedgerow, meadow & borders into delicious flavourings and condiments that add a beautiful, botanical depth of flavour to food.

Her garden is rather weedy and her grass is too long, but it it teams with bees, butterflies and flavour.

When Liz isn't picking, preserving or running after muddy children she runs wild food courses and talks that will make you *almost* love ground elder.

Rowan McOnegal has always been passionate about plants and the environment. Trained as a painter at Bath Academy of Art, she later became a freelance photographer with a special interest in the natural world. Her botanical library is a photographic record of herbs and wild flowers that constitutes a reliable, comprehensive and specialist library of plant portraits.

Her experience of modern medicine versus traditional therapy, combined with her fascination with botany and the positive ways people can interact with their environment, led her to qualify as medical herbalist  in 1990.

She  now combines teaching others how to value and use plants  through teaching practical herbal medicine making courses, together with artistic activities that now centre on stained glass.  She welcomes visitors (by prior arrangement) to her studio near Ledbury.

We are a family owned and run nursery, set in the middle of the beautiful Shropshire countryside. We have cows and sheep in the fields around us and arable crops, especially potatoes are grown in the area. We occupy a small area of just 1 acre so have to be as tidy as possible to utilise the space we have.
We specialise in herbaceous plants, especially those for drier soils, as well as auriculas in early spring. We also hold two National Collections: Acanthus and Albuca. John can make bespoke Auricula theatres to your requirements but as you can see, Pearl our little cat found a better use for one.

Opening hours March to October 9.30 ‘till 5 daily, except Sundays when we are closed. Any other times by appointment. We are an RHS partnership nursery and attend many shows and plant sales throughout the year.

Seggin Bees started life as a hobby between partners Louise Sheppard and Nick Hall keeping two colonies of bees and selling honey from the door. We now have around twenty colonies, all producing honey and wax both at home and in ‘out apiaries’ around Herefordshire.

All our products are made by ourselves from our own resources. The honey and wax products are from our bees, the petals and herbs, which we gather and dry, from our garden. Our soap is made using the traditional cold process method which does not use heat and allows the ingredients to cure naturally for over a month.

We are members of the Guild of Craft Soap and Toiletry Makers and our soap has been safety certified by an independent safety advisor which is in accordance with EU cosmetic regulations to which we adhere. At all times the environmental impact of what we do is our first consideration.

Nick grew up on the edge of the Vale of Evesham and worked as a gardener in and around Stratford upon Avon before moving to Herefordshire four years ago.
Originally studying Environmental Sciences at the University of Greenwich, Nick retrained in horticulture at Pershore College where he achieved an HNC in Production Horticulture in 2002. His initial interest was in the production of nursery stock, however he took a position as a gardener during his horticultural studies and so enjoyed this work, that he has worked as a gardener ever since.
Prior to becoming a gardener, Nick has worked in wildlife conservation which has had a large influence on his approach to gardening. He currently works in three private gardens where he has created wildlife habitats to compliment the more formal areas of these gardens by encouraging the natural biological control of insect pests and diseases.
Nick has retained his interest in plant propagation and produces both ornamental and edible plants for his clients. He is particularly interested in fruit tree pruning and the regeneration of old top fruit orchards.

Rose gardens he has designed and/or advised include RBG Kew, Hampton Court Palace, Queen Mary’s Rose Garden in Regent’s Park, Bodnant, Trentham, Cliveden, Wisley and Savill.     Roses are certainly one of the most beautiful and garden worthy of all plants but can sometimes not look their best and not fulfil their full potential.
Michael is an expert in maintaining rose gardens at their peak as well as trouble shooting problems and suggesting the best remedies. He can also provide on-site training to small or large groups, or private individuals.   He is a lecturer on all aspects of roses and will be happy to talk to horticultural societies. On our plot, nestled in the Shropshire hills just outside Ludlow, we grow seasonal British blooms, aiming specifically to offer interesting varieties and colours that you might not usually find on the high street. Creamy, dreamy phlox sways next to dark and moody burgundy amaranth on our plot which has been a nursery on and off for over 30 years.
We believe British flowers are hard to beat. In our work we try to use either our own stock or source the best quality local blooms from the fabulous network of growers that we are so lucky to have in the region. Our style is abundant and unique. We love trailing and intriguing foliage, contrasting textures and shapes, and including elements of the unexpected in our designs.
Catering to all kinds of events, from weddings to weekly bunches for the house, our flowers can either be bought by the jar or bucket from the garden gate for those wishing to DIY, or for a fully bespoke service, drop us a line and we would love to chat all things floral with you to make your occasion truly special.
